FIND OUT MORE

high-density polyethylene (HDPE)

Often abbreviated as HDPE, it is also called linear polyethylene because its chemical structure has no branches.

CHARACTERISTICS AND APPLICATIONS

Compared to low-density, high-density or linear polyethylene:

  • Is very tensile resistant
  • Is harder and more opaque
  • Can withstand fairly high temperatures (around 110/120°C)

HDPE has several uses such as:

  • containers (such as detergent bottles and milk bottles)
  • plastic furniture
  • pipes
  • bottle caps
  • prostheses
